How To Get The Greatest Benefit From CD Burner Software

CD burner software can allow you to make hard copies of the files on your computer, including anything already on CD which can be ripped from the original. This capability can have many interesting uses, whether you are a home or business user. The most obvious use of CD technology on a computer is to create hard copy back ups of your crucial data. This hard copy is created on discs which are now incredibly cheap to buy, and which can contain large amounts of written files.

Now, we are seeing more people burning files to DVD, as file sizes have increased. If the content you have is mainly audio, or especially video, it may be better to burn to DVD media if your machine has the capability. For printed documents, however, there can be advantages to CD. Firstly, you have a degree of protection if all of your files are not on the same disc. More importantly, with CD being so cheap, you can make multiple back up copies of these files.

Good CD burner software can also create music CDs in the format which will play in any standard CD player. So many people just burn music files to CD, and try to play them in their sound system or portable CD player, not realizing that these data CDs will not play in such machines even if they contain nothing but audio files. If your CD software burner cannot burn CDs which are compatible with standard CD players, use one which can. There are several available as free downloads, and many other paid ones.

One feature to watch out for with some of the free and cheap CD software burners is that they are often inflexible as to the amount of time which is left as silence between each track. Typically, this is two seconds. Normally, this is about right and does not cause any problems, but there are times when it needs to be adjusted. The most obvious case is that of a live recording which is split into tracks. In this case, there will be the constant sound of the audience even when the musicians are not playing, and a gap of two seconds will sound completely unnatural.

There are also some pieces of classical music where one movement leads into the next one, such as Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. Again, the effect will be ruined completely if you cannot adjust the amount of silence between each track to zero. There are programs which will do this, including some free ones, so it doesn't make any sense to use one which will not. Software developers should be striving to add this feature if it is not already present. You can create perfect copies of audio CD with a good CD ripper, and a fully functional piece of CD burner software.
